Who am I?

I am Kilmarnock born and bred, and still live there with my wife, Barbara, and young daughter Catherine. In 1981 I graduated from Strathclyde University.

Three years later I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a national firm of accountants based in Glasgow.

In 1990 I joined a smaller Chartered Accountancy practice and spent the last five years there as a partner before setting up my own practice in Irvine in February 2002.

My ambition in life, to climb Everest, has faded to a pipe dream. However my interest in all outdoor activities continues so long as the dodgy knee holds out.

I am proud of my Chartered Accountant status. Of course you will want and get the reassurance that all Chartered Accountants are regulated and supported by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and have mandatory training to ensure that their technical knowledge is up to date.

I could also tell you that Chartered Accountants are backed by professional indemnity insurance and a system of Quality Review and that the Chartered Accountant is a leading business qualification...all very comforting but I'd much rather you came to me on the basis that you trust me to do the job well.

I believe that over the years I have satisfied clients with my hard working approach helping them to run and operate profitable businesses. I don't believe in the pin stripe suit and I don't own a leather executive seat! My approach is hands on, building a relationship based on mutual respect.
